Towards a rag free Bangladesh

Walking into college/university, our first expectation as freshers would be: making friends, knowing the campus, being welcomed. Sadly, back home, students worry more about “will I also be ragged?”. This is their first concern. I am asking, why should the students have to worry about something that isn’t supposed to bother ANY student? Education is a fundamental right, it shouldn’t come at such an expense!

Ragging culture needs to stop, students who rag must know what they do isn’t cool , doesn’t prove you are manly! And,oh giving “treats” later doesn’t justify anything either!

My request to ,Seniors now in universities, please don’t pass on this “culture” to your juniors, just because it once happened to you. This needs to stop.

And ragging must be illegal . No ‘buts’, ragging not only affects students physically, it also affects them mentally. Educational institutes suppose to liberate us, not make us feel insecured or in anyway make us feel confined.

I don’t know, if I could actually make any difference through this gesture, but I do know one thing for sure, change can happen if we all stay united and stand for one another. And aim to bring the change!

JUST STOP!
